This week we welcomed Lichfield Rugby club.
An extremely well organised and physical Lichfield team soon made their intent clear.
Both teams playing good rugby from the start saw Sils struggling to make ground against a very strong defence.
We finally broke the deadlock with Sils forwards working hard to secure ball which saw Haani receive out wide to go on a strong run, handing off the opposition to score.
Lichfield continued to defend very strongly but just seemed to be struggling to string attacking phases together.
Sils scored their second when a darting break by Max from the base of the scrum saw him go over for our second. Some deliberation on whether Max had gone into touch finally saw us awarded the try.
Some more good rugby followed and the physicality of this game was becoming more and more entertaining to watch.
Final try of the half came when Elliot kicked for Haani to collect well and off load to Ethan to go over for our third. Jacob converting well.
Half Time
Sils 17 Lichfield 0
The second half began and Sils had made some changes throughout the squad.
Next score once again went to Haani who had received the ball after some great work by the Sils pack. A strong charging run saw him go over for his second of the game. Jacob again adding the extra two points.
Lichfield then had a period of excellent attacking rugby and nearly scored but were denied by an exquisite tap tackle from Oscar only yards from our try line.
Ethan then put his name on the scoreboard again when he picked a nice line to go over for his second, handing off a Lichfield player en route.
Sils were now beginning to fire on all cylinders. Scrum time was excellent with our forwards dominating even on the Lichfield put in.
Watching the forwards exerting such power and timing to do this is a lovely sight and is one of the things that makes this such a wonderful game.
Our next try came from Haani again who had taken the ball from a line out to go over for his third of the match. Jacob again converting very well from a long way out.
Final try of the game saw Haani once again go over for his fourth and finish off a fantastic personal try tally. A great scrum from Sils saw us win the ball to eventually find Haani in his own half who then went on a strong determined run for the line.
Another superb day of rugby and Lichfield deserved a lot more than the score line reflects.
They never gave up the fight and their coaches and parents should be extremely proud of their boys and the manner in which they played this fixture.
Final Score
Sils 41 Lichfield 0
