Sils v Redditch
After a couple of weeks without a game, a home fixture to Redditch was welcomed. First play of the game came from a Sils knock on inside the Redditch 22, Having won the scrum Redditch kicked clear, but with Sils rucking well Max spotted a gap blind side to score in the corner for the first score, a good effort from Jacob with the kick coming back off the posts from a long way out. The restart not going 10 had Sils winning their scrum feeding out to Ben.S to score a 2nd try almost straight from the restart. No Conversion. Although Redditch were working hard Sils were just not giving them any room to play. From another ruck the ball was fed out to Harry who skipped a tackle gaining a few yards from the resulting ruck, the ball was fed along the line to Adam to score in the corner, no conversion. Almost immediately, Nathan found himself in open space and from inside his own half evade a couple of tackles to run in under the posts. Conversion Elliot. Redditch were starting get a bit more of the play. Elliots Kick clear was picked up well by the Redditch Full Back, who looked set to go on a good run when Kyle put pay to that with a typical Kyle like text book tackle, winning the ball back for Sills allowing Nathan to score his 2nd of the match in the corner, no conversion.
Half Time 27 – 0
The second half maintained the same pattern as the first, with Redditch battling hard, but just not managing to break through the Sils defence.
With Sils turning over at the ruck, the ball fed out to Ethan who started the 2nd half running in under the posts, Elliot converting. A penalty to Redditch was won back by Sils almost immediately with Nathan picking up on the wing to complete his hat trick with no Conversion. An Injury to a Redditch player left them short, with Ross volunteering to help out and play for the opposition. By now Redditch were just running out of steam and couldn’t cope with the Sils strength and speed as Sils managed another 5 tries, 3 more to Ethan to take his tally to 4, 1 to Joe M and 1 To Mark with Elliot converting 3 of them.
A good effort from Redditch who continued to battle hard and in all areas and played some good rugby but unfortunately Sils were just too strong.
Great to have Redditch back in the age group and rebuilding.
Final Score 70 - 0
