A great performance by all.

This weekend we welcomed a Tamworth side who on previous occasions have been a tough nut to crack. After the previous evening’s disappointment for all English fans, most of us needed something to put a smile back on our faces. Well we didn’t have long to wait as straight from the Tamworth Kick off, Ross caught the ball and in only Ross style proceeded to run the full length of the pitch to score under the posts, a great start followed by the 1st of Elliot’s 7 well executed conversions. Good scrimmaging starting with a strong performance from our props allowing 5 to be taken against the head. A good display of rucking led to the second try which came following a penalty advantage being played and good handling and support work from the backs to give Haani his 1st try of the game. From the restart Jacob collected the ball and with an excellent run avoiding tackles looked likely to score if it hadn’t been for a good defence tackle from the Tamworth defence in to touch. The game continued to be in the control of the Sills with some good forward play and even better defensive work when the Tamworth centre broke free at pace with only Scott playing at Full back to stop him from scoring a definite 1st try for Tamworth, but Scott obviously hadn’t read the script and the Tamworth centre was comprehensively tackled much to the delight and admiration of the supporters and coaches alike. Following on from this Sills regained possession when Ross picked up the ball of the back of another great scrum on the Tamworth 22 and proceeded to plough forward for his 2nd try of the game with another Elliot conversion Sills now led 21 – 0. Tamworth were now starting to get a bit more of the ball and following on from a Penalty just outside the sills 22 and another for not being 10 yards back resulted in the 1st try for Tamworth with a missed conversion. Late on in the 1st half Joe Munns had a chance to score but was just held up on the line ending the 1st half with Sills 21 – 5 in front at the break.
The 2nd half started with Sills kick being called back for offside and after some hard work from Tamworth they scored their 2nd try of the game under the post which this time was converted. Sills forwards continued to dominate the scrums and the rucks which when at a Tamworth put in at the scrum resulted in sills winning the ball which was fed out along the line to Luke who pushed forward evading a couple of tackles before he fed in Haani who had been supporting expertly and from this support work manged to go over the try line for his 2nd of the game. Sills conceded 2 penalties on the bounce before more great rucking led to Ross picking the ball up of the back of the ruck inside the Sills half to run the rest of pitch unchallenged to score his 3rd try of the game and Sills 6th, with Elliot taking on the crossbar challenge for his conversion. The restart picked up again by Jacob, after more excellent rucking, who this time running from the half way line succeeded in evading the Tamworth defence to score his much deserved try. There seemed no way back for Tamworth as following another well worked Penalty Scott broke away to score. As the game neared the end another dominating Sills scrum ended with a try for the 2nd week running from Charlie which was finished of by Elliot’s 7th conversion of the game to make the Final Score 54 – 12 to Sills. With a fantastic all round performance and attitude from each and every one of the squad.
