We welcomed Kenilworth for the second game of the day.
The game started well with both sides playing some good rugby with the Sils pack performing well at the breakdown. The majority of the play was in the middle of the park and after some great rucking by Sils, we saw the ball come out to the backs with Ethan receiving and putting in a strong run with possibly the world's longest ever hand off before going over for his first try of the game.
Some more evenly contested play before Haani took the ball out wide and went on a charging run, evading a couple of missed tackles, to go over for his first of the game.
The game began to show clear signs of Sils being the more organised side and this again paid dividends when, after a period of Kenilworth pressure in our 22, we broke and with nearly the whole team involved, saw Haani again go over for his second. Conversion attempt was successful by Elliot.
Again Sils soaked up Kenilworth pressure and never looked like conceding with great defensive work by the whole team.
Final try of the half came after Ben S had chased back to collect a deep kick into Sils territory, ran it straight back at them before off loading to Haani for him to score again. Converted well by Elliot.
Half Time:
Sils 24 Kenilworth 0
The second half began in much the same way as the first half with some evenly contested play but with Sils still looking the more disciplined and organised team. First try of the half came after Scott charged down a clearance kick to pass to Haani who broke two weak tackles by Kenilworth to score again in the corner for his 4th try.
Sils now were looking more confident by the minute and this showed in all areas with the whole team playing confident and committed rugby.
Next score came after Jamie carried well and off loaded to Ethan who went over for his second of the match.
The most enjoyable part for a lot of the parents and testament to our coaches, was watching the intelligence of Sils players for not over committing at the breakdown which left our defensive line always set and ready to stop a Kenilworth attack.
Final Sils try came from the ever hard working Ross who picked and went to score a well deserved try under the sticks and again converted by Elliot. Kenilworth got a consolation try at the end of the game after a period of pressure in our half.
This was a great display of well organised, disciplined rugby which proves that this is the way to get the result over pure opposition aggression. The boys should be extremely proud of themselves.
Final Score:
Sils 41 Kenilworth 5
