This is an expensive project so we needed to find a way of raising ccapital. The Old Silhillians Association, working with the sports clubs, has exchanged a contract with Gracewell Healthcare who are proposing the construction of a care home on the site of the former Stewards House at the entrance to the club on the right.
The 'Sils grounds are in the green belt, so planning consent will only be granted for the care home if it is seen as being an enabling development, without which the works to the Clubhouse would not go ahead. This is definitely the case. The current draft budget for the clubhouse works is c.£1.6 million and the sale of the land will yield £1.2 million. We still have a gap to fill therefore and we will be seeking grant aid from the sports' National Governing Bodies, with whom we are already in discussions, as well as refining the design to make it economical to build whilst being fit for purpose.
It would be very useful if as many people as possible could fill out the consultation comment card below and drop it off/leave it at the clubhouse marked for my attention. This needs to be done by Sunday 16th September.
Cheers
