Today we welcomed Sutton Coldfield for a long awaited fixture for some of the lads due to the recent run of bad weather
The game started well with both teams looking sharp and up for a game. Some good work by the Sils pack lead to the first try scored by Haani after receiving quick ball from the backs.
Second Sils try followed shortly afterwards with a similar move coming from forwards pressure at the breakdown which led to Haani going over in the corner again.
The game was being evenly contested with Ben Graddon and Daniel Hadley working well carrying the ball and putting in strong runs.
Third try came from Ethan who handed off a few SC players before crossing over for his first of the game. The whole Sils squad were working incredibly hard and securing ball constantly at the breakdown which led to the last try of the half. A well executed scissors move from Jacob and Ethan saw Jacob go over for his first of the game.
Half Time: Sils 24 Sutton Coldfield 0
Next score of the match saw Ben Smith make a determined run from just inside the SC half to go over for a well earned try.
Sutton continued to work hard and were matching Sils on all fronts which led to their first try of the game.
The game continued in the same fashion with strongly contested Rugby being played. Next score came from Jacob who took the ball at close quarters from Ethan to go over for his second of the match.
Sutton once again fought back with their second of the game shortly afterwards.
By now the game was in full flow and a pleasure to watch with some great defensive line speed and tackling by all of the team. This hard work paid dividends once again with Ethan scoring under the posts for his second of the match.
Haani then scored his third of the game after Sils won ball once again at scrum time which saw the ball nicely fed down the Sils backs for him to go over. Sutton had a late charge towards the line only for their attacking player to be denied a try by a great tap tackle from Max.
Final score of the day came from a strong run and hand off from Ethan to also score his third of the game.
This was a fantastic game to watch and the boys all stepped up to the plate to put in a well earned and hard fought victory. Jacob converted well given the blustery conditions on the day.
Final Score:
Sils 55 Sutton Coldfield 10
