Things got off to bad start for the Home side when the visitors scrum half ran in the first try after 5 mins, from the base of a 22 metre scrum. Sils regrouped and soon scored themselves with some exciting attacking rugby from their own 22. The ball was won off the top of the line out and moved through the hands with Nic Powell making very good yards up the left touch line, some neat off loads and some quick clean rucking the ball made its way to Steve Hawkins who cut a superb line to score under the posts, Hawkins also added the extras. Just as Sils looked to be finding their feet the game sizzled out, with most of the play being done between the two 22's! The visitors looking dangerous in open play like they could score at any moment but the home defence keeping them at bay! 2 Steve Hawkins penalties extended Sils lead to 13-5 at the interval!
Sils got the perfect start to second half with Sils pushing Upton off their own ball on a 5 metre scrum, Pete Nichols, last year’s player of the year diving on the loose ball marking his first appearance of the season with a try! Steve Hawkins converting. The rest of the game saw some positive play by both sides; Upton's league position certainly doesn't do justice to some of the rugby they played. The visitors made it over the whitewash with 15 mins remaining, however the home side replied virtually straight away to replenish their lead when Ollie Trace scored under the posts for Steve Hawkins to convert.
That proved to be the final scoring of the game as Sils went in search of the bonus point fourth try, narrowly missing out!
