Sils completed their 6th win in a row for the second time this season!

Pershore travelled to the Sils on Saturday in search of some vital points to help in their relegation battle. Over the years Sils have enjoyed some very close encounters but on this occasion there was a demonstration of the direction of both clubs at the moment. Sils completed their 6th win in a row, the second time this season that they have achieved such a run and moved into second in the league. Pershore, with only 2 wins recorded all season, were on the receiving end of another defeat.
In a very competitive league Sils new that Pershore would, as ever, provide tough opposition. In sunny conditions Sils started brightly, with the final pass just eluding them in the first quarter. A penalty, from Steve Hawkins were all Sils had to show for territorial dominance. However, a huge hit by Hawkins in the midfield, provided the catalyst for some scores before half time, with the ball spilling to Will Crane to run-in the first try in the corner. The second came from scrum as the Sils pack showed their dominance to provide the platform from which the returning Pete Nichols blasted over, a powerful run from flanker Stephen Hall was finished by Crane for his quick-fire double before half time.
The half time break did not slow the momentum as a superb team try, finished by Hall notched the bonus point shortly after the restart. The scoreboard was kept ticking over by the ever reliable boot of Hawkins as another penalty was added to his personal tally before Pershore threatened to come back into the match. Two well worked tries from the Pershore left wing broke the Sils stride before a typical strong run from the impressive Hall regained control of the game. With some strong running from youngster Jack Hobbs and quick ball provided by scrum half Dave Edwards, two further superb tries were soon added by Window Licker and Rafael Guimaeres. Steve Hawkins completed the 55-10 scoreline with his 9th successful kick, a 100% record on the day which is a new club record.
Sils wish Pershore all the best with their relegation battle and hope they can turn things around to set up some more exciting fixtures in the future. But for now, Sils keep the momentum going into the final stages of the season and next up is a trip to Upton-On-Severn on 24th March.
