Sils travelled to Southam Rugby Club for a difficult away fixture in cold tricky conditions. With the pitch inspection passed by both captains, sils were up for spoiling Southams Christmas shindig.

The Sils pack dominated the scrum all day with some great efforts from the front five. Most notably props Mark Parry and Lewis White dominating their opposite numbers and earning Sils multiple penalties However the dominance within in the first 20 minutes was thwarted after some clumsy Sils play in the red zone trying to force things a little too much.
Until, fresh from his winter retreat to Holland featuring some serious high altitude training in the week, Nick Elliot was the man to break the Southam defence with a clean break down the centre of the field to offload to Ben Crowe who neatly skipped past the final defender to score under the posts.
The pressure from Sils led to the Southam fly half being sinbinned, now for the Dam floodgates to open. A sniping break down the blindside from skipper Tom Lee fed Ollie Trace to cross the whitewash. A quick change on the half hour mark saw the reintroduction of club legend, Stephen Hall. Steve had been down under for a year traveling and meant he had definitely found himself as well as his try scoring form with his first touch of the game resulting in Sils third try.
In the run up to the half time rare Southam pressure led a score in the club house corner much to the delight of the spirited home fans, at half time the score stood at 5-17.
A Tom Lee penalty shortly after the break briefly settled Sils nerves, only for them to get rattled again with a breakaway Southam try after some sloppy defence. Was a comeback on the cards? Not today. First flanker Ronan Jones boshed his way over after a wayward lineout in the Southam lineout in their 22. Following that was the best play of the day. Once again another solid scrum set the platform for the sils backs to show their class. Harry Pick on the loop fed by Ollie Trace with Chidi Nzekwe running the decoy, Pick drawing the opposition winger for Ben Crowe to waltz over with a final dummy, 1st phase attack executed to perfection… simpleh loveleh.
Feeling content with their efforts and not having much left in the tank, Sils took their foot off the gas with two late consolation tries going to Southam’s backline, final score 20-32.
Another strong away win to make it 5 from 5 for the Copt Heath crew who host their final game of 2017 at home to Barkers Butts this Saturday.
