Sils got back to winning ways following the previous weeks loss to second place Malvern by brushing aside bottom place and soon to be relegated Old Yards. It has to be said the Old Yards were fielding a far from full strength side with some more gentleman

The Sils started optimistically taking the lead within 5 minutes with Jamie Roskell finishing off a well worked counter attacking move in the score board corner. Jamie Roskell grabbed another just 3 minutes later with a neat finish having stepping his opposite number. Sils quick fire tries were followed by some unexpected Old Yards pressure which did see them cross the whitewash after a quick tap penalty only to be brought back for the penalty after it wasn’t taken from the referees mark.
Sils recovered and managed to keep their structure. Peter Nicholls took a neat inside ball from fly half Harry Pick to sprint from the 22, round the opposition full back to score his first try of the season, Ben Crowe added his first extras two points of the day from the conversion. A hot headed Yards back row saw the bin for foul play enabling Sils to optimise their man advantage with fresh legs as Ed Adkins replaced Tom Manise.
Sils were once again clinical from a misplaced Yards penalty kick to counter attack to great effect, this time it was James Arney with a score under the posts after thrusting his opposite man off him down the right wing. On the 38 minute mark it was time for another season scoring newbie to get on the scoresheet. Tim Trace charged down the Old Yards scrum half box kick to then follow up and snatch the ball to dot down under the posts. Half time and the score stood at 31-0.
The Sils picked up where they left off in the second half with James Arney scything down his wing to score a minute after the kick off. Harry Law came on at fly half for Ollie Trace for a reshuffle in the backs. This benefited Harry Pick the most as he collected the ball in a bit of space on his own 22, spotting a gap he stepped on the gas pedal to run the length of the pitch to score in the clubhouse corner.
Some spicy fisty cuffs gave Tom Manise a much need rest for 10 minutes along with OY’s fly half, quickly followed by another yellow for the visitors. Tom Lee replaced Phil Martin at scrum half after another impressive game for Phil, Tom made an immediate impact scoring from a quick free kick following a scrum 5ms out from the Old Yards line. The second Lee brother was next on the scoresheet. Turnover on their own try line meant for Pick to feed Law, Law to feed Lee and watch him pace away for another length of the field effort.
A small mishap at the breakdown saw Joe Bullock see 10 mins in the bin but this did not hault Sils getting the final score before the end of the game. This time it was hooker Fred Howard. Fred getting rewarded for his hard ball carrying which had kept Sils going forward all game with a sumptuous short line from the side of the ruck to round the cover defence and cross the whitewash.
The final score finished 64-0, a positive result to lead the Sils into the final three crunch games of the season. A rest for easter weekend is followed by a home fixture vs Southam on Saturday 7th April.
