Sils travelled to Peel Croft to face a Burton side lying second in the League having only lost once this season to runaway unbeaten League leaders, Lichfield.
Within 9 minutes Sils appeared to be facing an uphill battle having leaked 2 tries to the swift Burton backs. Matt Lee reduced the deficit to 12-5 on 18 minutes with a well taken try but Burton increased their lead to 17-5 on 29 minutes. Moments before half-time Tom Lee reduced the deficit with a second Sils try following intense forward pressure and a successful Hawkins conversion gave a score of 17-12 to Burton at the break.
Just 2 minutes into the second period and Sils were level at 17 apiece. Undoubtedly the try of the game started by number 8 Tama Hill in his own half with strong running and swift exchanges between forwards and backs saw Hill cross the whitewash. On 49 minutes Sils' centre Olly Beech exploited a gap in the Burton defence and a successful Hawkins' conversion gave Sils the lead for the first time in the encounter, at 17-24.
Burton reduced the deficit to 20-24 on 53 minutes but a couple later Dan Kelly, a thorn in Burton's side for most of the afternoon got just deserve for his efforts with an excellent try, converted by Hawkins, 20-31.
Burton threw the kitchen sink at the young Sils side and with 10 minutes to go had inched ahead to 32-31.
With just 2 minutes to go Burton were penalised and from 35 metres the cool head and trusty boot of Hawkins saw the posts dissected. Final score of 32-34 in favour of the away side at the end of an enthralling match played in the true spirit of the game.
