Sils scored their first try from the kick off following good solid team work between backs and forwards. After that each side virtually run straight through each other unopposed. By virtue of greater commitment and determination, Tamworth took the upper hand as Sils failed to make their tackles count. Some jinking runs and strong rucking by Tamworth made sure the home side were down by 5 tries to 3 at half time. However, after the break Sils finally got their game going, stopping the visitors from scoring for the whole of the second half and registering 8 tries of their own as rucks were hit and tackles made with real aggression, led by man of the match George Bould. Determined running, skilful backs handling and some good old fashioned grunt, eventually broke the opposition's resolve. In total Sils u14's recorded 11 tries and 7 conversions, with 6 tries from Alex, 3 by Owen and one each for Jacob and Fraser.
A big thank you to our ref today Steve, who seemed to be suffering from the effects of refereeing a very fast game - it was like watching Samoa Vs. Fiji at 7s for a while! Great entertainment although both sets of coaches will be scratching their heads about some of the defensive play.
Good luck to Luc and Jack R with their injuries and well done to all the lads for sticking at it and coming out strong winners in the end!
See you next Sunday
