They did it!
Possibly the hardest fixture we have ever had to organise and certainly the most stressful, but the Semi Final of the North Midlands Cup turned into the finest of experiences. The Sils boys were rampant, dominating kick offs, set pieces, breakdowns and open play completely and totally throughout the first half. Let us not forget this was a very good Stourbridge side and as they showed when the game was effectively lost, they could play good rugby.
Mitch got the boys at the perfect pitch to start the game with a fierce commitment and boundless energy that the opposition simply couldn’t match. An interception try from Nic certainly set them back – it was after only 30 seconds – and further tries including a brilliant turnover and lightening quick thinking from Mitch, that led to a searing 80m run in try from Alex, must have been demoralising. It was simply brilliant from the boys. Skills executed flawlessly at a high tempo proved irresistible.
The coaching team were delighted with the boys’ decision making. They made so many good decisions under the most intense pressure and when it mattered most.
Every one of the squad played their part today and every one had their own personal man of the match performance. Their collective desire and team work was very special indeed.
Onwards to the tour this weekend and then looking forward to the final, again at Stourbridge. The final is on the 17th April. Our opponents will be the winners of Worcester Vs Sutton Coldfield that will be played next weekend.
