Hi Dom,
Please find report below
On a lovely sunny Sunday morning we welcomed for the first time, Paviors from Nottingham. A big thank you to them is in order for making the long drive down to play the fixture.
We were all aware of what a strong team they were and our boys were under no illusions about how tough this match was going to be.
The first half kicked off with Sils working hard to get quick ball from the off. A well contested maul led to the ball swiftly going through our backs to Haani who offloaded to Ethan who broke a few missed tackles to go over for his first score of the game. Elliot duly converted. From the restart Sils again applied pressure in all areas with our forwards competing well at the breakdown against some big lads from Paviors. Sils again won the ball and our pack structured a lovely driving maul which saw Noah emerge and go crashing over for a great try. Elliot once again converting well.
It was now very clear that all of our boys had turned up for this game, massive effort, commitment and team work was a joy to behold for everyone on the sidelines. The third try came after some great work from our forwards arriving quickly at the breakdown. The ball found its way to Jamie who put in a fantastic run before off loading down the line to Haani for his first of the game. Some more great rugby from our boys saw the whole team working together and the speed and intensity at the breakdown and scrum time was nothing short of jaw dropping.
Ben Graddon was next to put his name on the score sheet after a strong carry from Noah which saw Ben go over for a well deserved try.
Paviors kept the pressure on and their whole team looked a constant threat. This pressure paid dividends when they went over for their first try of the game.
Sils responded instantly with the backs receiving the ball after some great work by our forwards. After the ball being passed rapidly down the line, Jamie again showed his pace and sidestep to go over for a well worked score. Final try of the half saw a wonderful piece of skill and understanding. The tackle came in on Jamie who cleverly sent the Pavior defence the wrong way when he popped the ball inside to Haani who clearly knew what he was planning. Haani then finished the move off for his second of the game by going over in the corner. Top drawer rugby !!
First Half Sils:34 Paviors 7
The second half began pretty much as the first had finished. Sils still looking in control and our preseason fitness programme appeared to be working well with all of our boys working incredibly hard. Next try came after our backs received the ball from our pack after another strongly contested ruck, which led to the ball going through hands to feed Haani to score in the corner.
By now all of the parents were simply being mesmerised by the quality and effort that Sils were showing and a huge testament to our coaches who must have been extremely pleased with the way things were going.
Next score was after a great turnover saw the ever hard-working Ben Maguire execute a lovely offload to set Haani up for another try in the corner.
Paviors continued to threaten and their boys heads did not drop one bit. A charging run from their player had try written all over it until Jacob carried out a very courageous tap tackle with only a few feet to go to the try line. Unfortunately the Paviors player had to leave the field after an assessment by Hugh, so we wish him well with his recovery. Shortly after this our visitors got the try they deserved with a very well worked score.
Our final try of the day was after an exquisite dummy by Max who seemed to be enjoying his wing position, Ross received the ball and went over for a well earned try.
This was a fantastic morning of quality rugby by both teams and parents and coaches should be extremely proud of the boys.
Final score Sils 53 Paviors 19
