This week Sills entertained a touring Cheltenham Bourne side who came well equipped with 2 full squads. The 1st game got off to a great start for Sills with 2 turnover balls being fed out along the line to Hanni and the inevitable happened as he scored the 1st try in as many minutes. Well converted Elliot. Straight from the restart Sills rucking was excellent with the ball coming out to Elliot who produced a lovely chip kick that both Hanni and Ethan chased down with Ethan kicking along the ground and over the line to score his 1st try of the match. No conversion. The 1st scrum of the game came from a Sills knock on, which Sills dominated but unfortunately didn’t come away with the ball which Bourne decided to kick clear, well picked up by Ben S feeding Hanni who’s break was well supported by both Woody and Ross until an injury to the Bourne centre halted play. A succession of scrums due to knock on’s from both sides with Sills winning on the strength side but unable to win ball at the opponents put in. Good rucking once again from Sills leading to a try with great interlink play with Sam, Ben s, Hanni and finally Ethan to score. No Conversion. A good run from Jamie ended with him in touch, from the line Bourne then gave possession back to Sills with a kick to touch. The Sills line was dealt with well and Joe A found himself in an unusual position for the 2nd week running feeding out to Elliot who’s run and kick was neatly picked up by the Bourne fullback who kicked to touch. After a Bourne scrum due to Sills line not straight, Sills managed to turnover at the eventual ruck with Ross and Hanni combining well until a loose ball had Bourne once again kicking clear for Ben S to neatly pick up while retreating and to precede to go on a strong run with support from Hanni who he fed with a great pass to score. No Conversion. Just before the end of the half Bourne had a penalty which they found Sills sleeping to score in the corner well taken. No Conversion.
Half Time 22 – 5
The second half and another Hanni break with Woody in support ended with a penalty to Bourne which they didn’t take advantage of and Sills were soon back in possession at the ruck with the ball breaking out to Ethan who made light work of it to score his 3rd of the match. Converted Elliot. Another penalty to Bourne and Sills regained possession quickly with a penalty of their own and from the line Bourne were handed back possession to only be stopped by a great tackle from Noah. A period of sustained Sills pressure ended when the Bourne centre had a kick charged down which Charlie took advantage of to score. Converted Elliot. By now Bourne were becoming really stretched and another Hanni try his 3rd of the game came out of nowhere. No conversion. Shortly after the restart a delightful kick over the top from Elliot had Ethan chasing down and picked up well to score his 4th and final try of the game under the posts for Elliot to convert his 4th of the game as well. A lot of praise has to be given to Bourne who were just embarking on a 4 day tour and never gave up on the game at any time and I am sure enjoyed the after match games in the Clubhouse as well.
Finally we hope that the Bourne player that had to go to Hospital is ok and has manged to enjoy the rest of the tour.
Final Score 48 - 5
