After the late cancellation by Market Bosworth, great work from John Garside, got the lads an away tie at Lutterworth. A strong challenge awaited. Having arrived early a long period of warming up got underway with Sills rucking getting off to a fine start, with less than 4 mins on the clock and after fantastic pressure from Woody, Jamie collected inside the Sills half and once he got going nothing was going to stop him as he went over for the first try which was well converted by Elliot. Noah picked up from the restart taking the ball into contact and once again Sills forwards were first to the ruck recycling well and out to the backs, with good hands to Hanni and need I say more, Try, Converted Elliot. Sills forwards were by now playing with confidence and dominance at the rucks and rolling mauls were becoming commonplace. With the latter from a Sills lineout working well and allowing Hanni to score his 2nd try, no conversion. A penalty to Lutterworth, was soon turned over yet again by Sills and they themselves awarded a Penalty, with from the resulting Lineout another well worked rolling Maul showed some real maturity from the Sills pack and a pleasure to watch. Unfortunately Sills lost possession from a knock on but the way the pack were playing did not worry them and it showed, with Harri taking one against the head with Ross picking up from the back of the scrum to break blind side and score, no conversion. After the restart a brief break in play for a Lutterworth injury, who eventually got to his feet a little weary however happy to say un-harmed. A reset Lutterworth scrum and a strong Sills defence couldn’t prevent Lutterworth getting points on the board with a good move well deserved, no conversion.
Half Time 5 – 24
The second half and the forwards were at it again a knock on from Sills and against the head Sills won the scrum, with the backs handling magnificent, especially a well timed pass from Sam that was to be his only action of the match, only being on the pitch for 2 minutes the already committed Lutterworth centres tackle giving him a few sore ribs. From this pass though the ball ended up in Hanni’s hands for his 3rd try, converted Elliot. The restart had a period of line outs and penalties before, Lutterworth chose to kick clear for the ball to end in Ben S, hands and what was now becoming a real pleasure to watch from the forwards to the backs it ended in Ethan’s hands to get his name on the score sheet, converted Elliot. The restart not going ten and Sills were quick to request the scrum on halfway and once again was not wasted. Jacob found himself in possession and with a delightful Dummy pass between himself and Jamie broke through to score and then follow up with the conversion. From a Sills line, the driving maul was on again as Sills forwards continued to take control, the ball eventually fed out to the backs and a cheeky under legs pass from Jacob to Ethan came off allowing the ball to find its way to Hanni for his 4th and Sills final try no Conversion.
A really mature and solid performance from Sills that on this performance any team would have found it difficult to beat. Lutterworth need not feel down as they today came up against a strong Sills team and they deserve all credit for the way in which the match was played.
Final Score 5 - 50
