After a bit of a bad weather break Sils were keen to get back on the horse after defeat to Northampton 2 weeks ago. Josh Bould captain for the day, Nuneaton started the game kicking left to right. Sils moved the ball well for the fleet footed George Maddy to score down the left making it 5-0 Sils in only a matter of minutes. Conversion from tight angle just short. Sils were right back at Nuneaton from the restart, rucking well to get quick ball from Ross to Monty to Ben only for George Maddy to be dragged into touch. Sils back in possession after a smart turnover saw some lovely flowing rugby to find Ted Clarke scoring in the left corner. 10-0 Sils with conversion from another tight angle just short. Restart taken beautifully by James Kennedy quickly moved wide for George Maddy to beat a fast covering Nuneaton defence to score under the posts, 17-0 converted by Monty. Nuneaton restart into a strong wind short and from the Sils scrum Will Conduit picked from 8, drew his man beautifully to find Arjan on his outside to score again 22-0. Conversion just hit posts but didn’t make it over. End of the first half 22-0 Sils
Sils started the second half and good line speed saw Nuneaton under pressure. Ball cleared well by Nuneaton only for Monty to kick over the rushing Nuneaton defensive line, with Arjan and Ollie Wilkins in pursuit it was Ollie with hands on the ball to score far right. 27-0 with a missed conversion from a very tight angle. Nuneaton working well with plenty of vocal support kept the ball for a number of phases until a knock on gave Sils the scrum. Stopped temporarily Sils soon had a left side lineout which gave the powerful Tom Masterson a short hard line smash of a try taking the score to 32-0 following missed conversion from a tight angle. Not 5 minutes later another Sils line out saw Will off load to Tom Masterson who took the shortest, hardest route to make it 37-0. Conversion missed short. Nuneaton kept their heads up working their way into the Sils half when they broke clear only for the impressively rapid Ollie McGinnity to track right and stop the Nuneaton attack. Clearance kick from Monty turned Nuneaton around but they moved the ball beautifully to break clean through only for Sils Isaac Paris to smartly tap tackle the Nuneaton attacker to ground, great text book effort. Despite two brilliant pieces of defence Nuneaton were not going to be denied and they eventually scored an unconverted try tight in the left corner. That was the last play of the game 37-5 to Sils
Great effort from everyone with plenty of positives to take away.
